DR. GARNET PACKOTA,
DMD, MSc, DipOR, FRCD(C)
He received his DMD from the University of Saskatchewan. After several years of general dental practice, he entered the Oral Radiology graduate specialty program at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. He is a former faculty member of the College of Dentistry, University of Saskatchewan, where he taught oral radiology to dental students and had an intramural oral and maxillofacial radiology practice. He also taught portions of oral radiology courses to undergraduate dental students at the University of Alberta for several years. He has authored or co-authored articles in several peer-reviewed journals and has given presentations and lectures to various dental organizations within Canada and internationally. He retired from his university position in 2018 and was granted the position of Professor Emeritus in the College of Dentistry. He is continuing a reporting and consulting service for dental professionals.
Dr. Packota holds licenses in the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. He has held positions as President, Acting Registrar and Chief Examiner for Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in the RCDC. He is a member of the Canadian Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology and the International Association of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology. He has received Distinguished Service awards from the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan and the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
